Electric infrared radiant heater with pleasant warmth

An infrared radiant heater is a device that can generate infrared radiation. The use is often for heating and drying purposes. These include areas such as the sauna for well-being, as indoor heating, in medicine, in animal husbandry or as living space heating. Also, an infrared heater is used in catering on the terraces. The operation of these radiant heaters is either with electricity or gas. The current variant is more common. There is a special feature with this radiator, namely that the illuminated area is heated, but not the air in the same room.

Functionality

Infrared radiation from KlimaLex makes people feel very comfortable. This is related to the fact that this radiation is a part of the solar energy. Infrared radiation, which people perceive as heat, is constantly emitted from the sun. An infrared radiant heater generates an infrared radiation via an electrical source or occasionally with the help of gas and sends them out.

Thus, an important difference to the functioning of other heating systems arises. In the other heating systems, heat is supplied to the room air by a conventional radiator and this air is increased by a few degrees. In contrast, the infrared heater gives off the heat to the illuminated objects that are in the room (furniture, walls, ceilings or floors). These objects then warm the environment. This will then generate a non-changing heat in the room. There is no air turbulence here and therefore no noise is generated.

For whom is such a radiant heater suitable and what applications are there?

Such radiant heater is basically suitable for all persons. The reason is that it is a source of heat as a natural part of solar energy and causes well-being. To prevent burns here, care should be taken that such an infrared heater can not be touched by children or pets.

As far as the application possibilities are concerned, there are a multitude of possibilities here. This includes, for example, the use of outdoor heating on the balcony, in the garden or on the terrace, use in saunas, changing rooms, in swimming and sports halls or in steam baths (this creates an additional well-being), as an additional heating option in the bathroom or as a heating option in equipment or warehouses and much more.

How is such a radiant heater put into operation?

These radiant heaters are available in various designs. Part of the installation is done on the wall or on an object that is particularly robust. The installation requires only a little manual skill. Accessories for installation, such as dowels or screws, are usually included. Commissioning is described in detail in the instructions included in the delivery. The device is then connected to the mains after installation and can then be used.

In some designs, the heat is released immediately after the insertion process. For other versions, a main switch is still to operate. It is also possible to adjust the watt level (ie the spotlight strength). If the device is to be used in different places (terrace and garden), a device with stand should be considered. Such versions can then be placed where the heat is required.

Safety

In general, the surface of this radiant heater is not as hot as one generally thinks. Nevertheless, this surface should not be touched because there is still a certain risk of burning. Therefore, such a heater is mounted at a height that should not be accessible to children. The heating elements are usually protected by a grid or other covers and thus not so easy to achieve.

Also, these radiant heaters are mostly equipped with overheating protection. This is done in part with a bimetal strip. The heaters here reach 500 watts or significantly more. There are also copies that are equipped with a remote control, a thermostat control, a time control and with different power levels. Likewise, there are also models that are steplessly aligned. As a result, any desired angle is then heated in the room itself.

Cleaning and care

Such radiant heaters infrared are almost maintenance free. They can run for years without any maintenance. Nevertheless, it makes sense if the device is cleaned of dirt and dust at certain intervals with a dry cleaning cloth. It is in this case the case. The remaining components and the interior are maintenance-free. Due to the existing power supply may not be cleaned here with water.

Where is the price??

Here are already very cheap models already below 300 euros. However, high-quality devices are in the range between 300 and 1.000 euros. Devices that are more than 1,000 euros are then used mainly in the commercial sector or in very large rooms.

Which questions should be clarified before the purchase decision?

KlimaLex lists the most important aspects exclusively for you so that you can make the right decision for you.

In which height is the radiant heater to install?

The height at which such a radiator is to be installed also depends on the desired surface temperature and on the use and heating capacity. If a larger area is to be heated, the spread of the reflector must also be taken into account here.

The basic rule here is that the smaller this radiator is, the higher a radiant heater can be mounted for the same effect. Most manufacturers recommend a distance of 2 to 2.5 meters from the ground here. Here, however, standing lights are offered, which, similar to a lamp, have a similar structure and thereby allow a stepless height shift.

What temperature is developed by an infrared device?

When it comes to quartz emitters, they are often short-wave emitters, which can then develop a surface temperature of 900 degrees Celsius and beyond. Therefore, a protective grid is present, by which a direct contact of the light rod is prevented. If there is a distance of about 1 meter, the temperature is at body temperature.

How much power does an infrared heater need??

The power depends on the area to be filled with the radiant heater. The losses due to poor insulation in the rooms are much lower in the radiant heater type, as is the case with the other heating options.

In what form can a repair be carried out?

These heaters as technical devices have a simple circuit diagram and a simple circuit. Errors are mainly caused by wear parts, such as the lamp, or by simple defects. Such repairs can be carried out by certified electronics companies and craftsmen and the costs are kept within reasonable limits.

Which versions are suitable for babies and changing tables?

The devices that are suitable for such use, have additional safety features, such as greater protection distance between the grid and the heating element or have rounded edges without edged components.

As far as the installation is concerned, then these radiant heaters are also pivotable. Also, especially for this use in babies and on the changing table, the switches or other controls, such as a timer should be easily accessible and can be operated with one hand.
