Intelligent Automatic Mode
In automatic mode, the target humidity is independently regulated based on the room temperature. The side air outlet supports air circulation throughout the room.
Humidistat & Automatic Defrost
The integrated humidistat allows automatic regulation of indoor humidity. The automatic defrost function protects the cooling system from icing and enables operation within a temperature range of 5 °C to 35 °C.
Compact & Continuous Operation
Thanks to castor wheels and a recessed handle, the compact device is easy to move. Continuous condensation drainage is also possible via the integrated hose connection.
Evaluated in practical testing: The editorial team at hausgeraete-test.de rated the Comedes Demecto 12 with an overall grade of 1.3 (Upper Class) and a price-performance rating of "good – very good".

Reliable Dehumidification for Living Rooms, Basements, and Laundry Drying
The Comedes Demecto 12 is suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, study rooms, and suitable basement areas with temperatures starting from 5 °C. The dehumidifier can also be used to support laundry drying. Thanks to its compact dimensions, castor wheels, and recessed handle, the device can be flexibly placed and moved within the room. The automatic defrost function protects the cooling system from icing and allows operation in a temperature range of 5 °C to 35 °C.
Functions can be easily adjusted via the clear control panel. Two built-in operating modes – including intelligent automatic mode and a function for laundry drying or continuous operation – allow for customized application. The integrated humidity display keeps you informed about current indoor air humidity.
Smooth-running castors, a practical recessed handle, a 24-hour timer, sleep mode, and a child lock round out the features of the Demecto 12.
Effective Mold Prevention Through Targeted Humidity Control
Mold spores generally require a relative humidity level consistently above 60% to grow. The Comedes Demecto 12 helps maintain room humidity at a healthy level (ideally between 40% and 50%), effectively depriving mold spores of the moisture needed to thrive.
Especially in cooler rooms, bedrooms, basements, or after drying laundry indoors, the room dehumidifier offers preventive protection against condensation forming on cold exterior walls, windows, and furniture. This prevents mold spots and musty odors from developing permanently.

The Comedes Demecto 12 is supplied fully equipped for operation with a 2.0-liter water tank and power cable.
Depending on your individual application, the following options should be considered:
- Standard operation via water tank: As soon as the 2.0-liter tank is full, the device automatically turns off and signals that the water tank is full.
- Continuous operation (hose): For continuous drainage of condensation water, a suitable drainage hose can be connected to the integrated port. Water is drained via gravity flow.
- Continuous operation with elevation difference: If condensation cannot be drained via gravity flow, a suitable condensate pump is required depending on the installation setup.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What room sizes is the Comedes Demecto 12 suitable for?
The Comedes Demecto 12 is designed for active dehumidification of rooms up to 25 m² or approx. 62 m³ at a 2.3 m ceiling height. For keeping spaces dry, the device can be used in rooms up to 50 m².
How much power does the dehumidifier consume during operation?
The Comedes Demecto 12 has a rated power of max. 200 Watts. Since the unit does not continuously run at full capacity in automatic mode, here is a sample calculation: Assuming an average load of 75–80% (approx. 150–160 Watts) and 8 hours of daily runtime, power consumption is around 1.2–1.3 kWh/day.
How does the intelligent automatic mode work?
In automatic mode, the Demecto 12 automatically regulates the target indoor air humidity based on the room temperature.
Can the device be used in continuous operation?
Yes, condensation water can be continuously drained via the integrated hose connection, eliminating the need to manually empty the water tank.
Does the device turn off automatically when the water tank is full?
Yes, as soon as the 2.0-liter water tank is full, the device switches off automatically. This prevents further condensation water from being directed into the full tank.
Does the Comedes Demecto 12 help against mold?
Yes, the device effectively prevents mold growth and spread. By keeping relative humidity below the critical 60% threshold, the Demecto 12 deprives mold spores of the nutrient base they need to grow. Please note that pre-existing mold should always be thoroughly removed mechanically and its root cause addressed.
At what temperatures can the dehumidifier be used?
The operating temperature range is between 5 °C and 35 °C. The integrated automatic defrost function protects the cooling system from icing at lower ambient temperatures within this operating range.

Notes on the refrigerant R290
- The unit is only designed for use with R-290(propane) gas as refrigerant.
- The refrigerant circuit is sealed. Maintenance work in this regard may only be carried out by a qualified technician. The maintenance manual must be requested by the technician from the manufacturer.
- Do not discharge the refrigerant into the atmosphere.
- R290 (propane) is extremely flammable and heavier than air. It first accumulates in low areas, but can be circulated by fans.
- If propane gas is present, or the presence is suspected, do not allow untrained persons to search for the cause.
- The propane gas used in this appliance is odourless.
- Therefore, gas may have leaked even without a noticeable odour.
- The components used are designed for propane gas and are therefore not ignitable and spark-free. Components may only be replaced by identical spare parts approved by the manufacturer.
- Note that the refrigerant is odourless.
- Compliance with national gas regulations must be observed.
- Failure to comply with the safety instructions may result in an explosion, death, injury and property damage.
- Any person carrying out work on the refrigerant circuit must hold a current valid certificate of competence from an industry accredited assessment body demonstrating their competence to handle refrigerants safely in accordance with an industry approved procedure.
- Maintenance must only be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. During maintenance and repairs that require the assistance of other skilled personnel, the person trained in handling flammable gases must constantly supervise the work.
- If you do not understand something or need help, please contact the manufacturer.
- You will find the contact details at the end of these operating instructions.
Intended use
- The dehumidifier is only intended for dehumidifying privately used indoor rooms (e.g. for living rooms, bedrooms, storage rooms or cellars). The unit is not suitable for outdoor use. The user must comply with the specified operating parameters of these instructions.
- The machine may only be used in accordance with its intended purpose. Any other use beyond this is not in accordance with the intended use. The user/operator, and not the manufacturer, is liable for any damage or injury of any kind resulting from such use.
Operating instructions
- The unit is designed for a temperature range between 5 and 35°C. Below 5°C the humidity tends to be very low, so you do not need to use a dehumidifier. Above 35°C, the overheating protection may automatically switch off the unit. The unit is not approved for operation outside the temperature range.
- In order for the dehumidifier to dehumidify optimally, it warms the air. Therefore, the room temperature may rise by 1-2 degrees. This is quite normal and increases the efficiency of the unit.
- When the water tank is full, the machine switches off automatically.
- To protect the compressor, it has a switching delay of 3 minutes. Wait 3 minutes until the dehumidifier resumes dehumidification.
