Schwille IsarAIR Smart: dew point ventilation control with indoor and outdoor sensor
The Schwille IsarAIR Smart (100-720) is a dew point ventilation control for basements, garages and other rooms with moisture problems. It is supplied including indoor and outdoor sensor and 2 x 10 m sensor cable.
Warm outside air can contain a lot of moisture. If it enters a cool basement, the moisture can condense on cold walls. A dew point ventilation control measures temperature and humidity inside and outside, calculates the dew point and switches the fans on only when the outside air can absorb moisture. According to the manufacturer, Schwille's dew point ventilation control won the 2014 Federal Prize of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
How it works
The control ventilates only when the outside air can absorb moisture. This is determined by dew point measurement: the lower the outside dew point temperature, the more moisture the air can absorb. The indoor temperature can be limited so that the room does not cool down further at cold outside temperatures. The display shows temperature, relative humidity and dew point temperature of both sensors via three buttons.

The achievable effect depends on room size, construction, number of fans and outdoor conditions. A specific dehumidification performance is not guaranteed. A control does not replace an expert assessment of damp walls; if there is visible damage, the cause should be clarified structurally.
Ventilate automatically instead of by feel
Warm air can carry a lot of moisture, and in a cool basement it can condense on cold walls. Without readings it is hard to judge when ventilating makes sense. The control takes this decision from the measured values of the two sensors and ventilates automatically, as long as the conditions allow it.

Maintenance and safety instructions
If it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, the device must be taken out of operation and disconnected from the mains. Installation may only be carried out by a qualified electrician who is familiar with the associated regulations. The VDE regulations must be observed.
